desert music.. what genre?
Please help; the music that evokes images of American desert; heat; cattle skulls; scorpions; cacti; harsh, hot searing deset landscape… what genre is it??? moody, hot, steely sounding, …. usually Arizona type landscape.. American dry dusty desert… any cd suggestions or at least a genre that’ll help me find what im lookin for..???
’steely sounding’ makes me think you may mean Bluegrass, because they often use a steel or ‘resonator’ guitar.
Then there is also Cajun and Zydeco, though they can be more ‘folk-dance’ in style.
You could also try Native American music – bands and artists like R Carlos Nakai, Burning Sky, Blackstone Singers, Sharon Burch.
You can find examples of all three of these genres on their specific Rough Guides albums, available from World Music Network, or on Amazon.

Try Ennio Morricone – he wrote all that atmospheric stuff for films such as Once Upon a Time in the West.

I would say country style, but I’m not a pro at this. Try looking into different country types, because there are different kinds of country music. Hope that helps:)

It’s probably in the New Age Genre like: Meditation, Environmental, or Nature.
